At Smack-Dab's Obedience Training, Inc. we pride ourselves in offering small classes with personal attention. Our training methods emphasize positive reinforcement, never punishment.

We offer all phases of training and fun for you and your dog. Our staff of qualified instructors have taught thousands of people how to train their pets to be reliable, well mannered companions both at home and in public. All of our instructors actively show with their own dogs in obedience, agility and conformation competitions.

Puppy Kindergarten

(7 Weeks to 16 Weeks)
This class provides counseling for the new dog owner on topics such as housebreaking, crate training, chewing and biting. The owner is taught how to be the pack leader and earn the dog's respect. The puppies are taught to walk on a leash, come when called and sit and down on command. The owners are taught how to discipline the puppies through dominance exercises. The puppies are socialized with other puppies and people. We will introduce new sights, footing and obstacles to build the puppies' character.

Sessions are 8 weeks. Classes are held at the Smack-Dab's Obedience Training Facility.

Basic Obedience
(4 months & up)
This class instructs the owner how to handle and control their dog while having fun at the same time. Class content includes teaching handler and dog to heel properly, sit exercises, down exercises, come when called, figure eight and stand for examination. The dog is taught to focus on its handler, and respond on the first command. This class is a must for all dog owners who desire better control and manners from their dogs. There is no truth to the saying that "you can't teach an old dog new tricks!"

These 8 week sessions are held at the Smack-Dab’s Obedience Training Facility.

Beginner Conformation Class
8 week structured class held on Wednesday evenings from 6:45-7:30 pm. Covers handling methods, the structure of the dog, AKC rules and regulations, how to dress for the ring, judges patterns and a graduation at the conclusion of the 8 weeks.

This class is a 'must' for a beginner that wants to compete with winners! Pre-registration is required. Registration is on a first come basis.

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT: Bait, choke chain or fabric choke with nylon loop lead (no martingale or Resco leashes). Bring a copy of your breed standard to class.

LIMITED CLASSES. Dogs must be at least 4 months old to attend. For further information contact Kathy Fay at (630) 393-9549.

Conformation Drop-In Class
Advanced class for experienced handlers who require a minimal amount of instruction. This class will be a faster pace and dogs will be moved through the examination and movement process more times per class.

Classes are Wednesdays from 7:30-8:15 pm.

Rally Style Obedience - Beginning & Competition Level Classes
If you want to practice obedience in a new way, this is the class for you.

If you are already competing but you want to improve your skills, or learn new moves

that are just fun to practice, then Rally Obedience is the way to go!

We work on both AKC and APDT styles of Rally using positive reinforcement techniques.

Our Beginner Class will get you started off on the right foot and our Competition Level Class will help you get ready for the show ring.

Rally promotes FUN and enjoyment for dogs at all levels�..Join us for a RALLY good time!

This class is designed to introduce you and your dog to the FUN-damentals of Agility.

Requirements: Dogs must be at least 6 months of age and have completed a puppy or basic obedience class held in a group setting outside of the home within 6 months of the class start date. Potential students who have not had their obedience class at Smack-Dab's must call Kathy Fay (630-393-9549) and attend a drop-in obedience class prior to acceptance into Agility class.

This is a 8 week class held at the Smack-Dab’s Obedience Training Facility.

Agility - Intermediate and Advanced Levels
Come have fun with your dog! Agility can provide great physical and mental outlets
for you and your dog. Classes geared toward competition, but recreational
participants are just as welcome! Equipment is regulation AKC equipment although
UKC and USDAA equipment will also be used.

Intermediate class will focus on confidence, motivation and teamwork while
negotiating agility sequences. Handlers must have off-leash control of their dogs.
Dogs must reliably perform 'come,' 'sit,' 'down,' and 'stay' commands, as well as
demonstrate competency on all agility equipment (except weave poles) off leash.

Advanced class will focus on advanced handling techniques and polishing team
performance. Dogs must be proficient and confident on all agility equipment.

Requirements: Previous agility and obedience classwork required.

Musical Freestyle

What is Musical Freestyle? Freestyle is a choreographed set of moves performed to music by dog and handler. The dog and handler may perform a variety of moves that include- spins, back steps, side steps, weaves, and combinations of these. Creativity is encouraged, and having fun with your dog is the goal!!!!!!

Freestyle Class Description: This introductory course will introduce the basic Freestyle moves; heeling in a circle, spins on left and right side, front crossover, and weaves. We will also discuss and select music that suits your team.

The course includes; 3 separate one hour classes, and participation in �Freestyle Sunday.� �Freestyle Sunday� is a gathering of Freestylers who come to learn new skills, teach a skill, share a demo or routine. This event will give new Freestylers a good idea of the fun and creativity involved in this sport.

Requirements: Dogs must be at least 6 months of age and have completed a puppy or basic obedience class held in a group setting outside of the home within 6 months of the class start date. The class will be much more satisfying to the handler if their dog has an understanding of basic skills and commands.
